INSPIRATION

Situated on just over an acre clearing in a conifer forest this house has been completely self-built around an existing old stone cottage. Over the years they have added extensions front and back so that the old cottage is now encased in the centre of the house. The front extension is made of glass so that for 6 months of the year they don't have to use any heating at all.

Their aim is to be as sustainable as possible and have built their own rainwater harvesting system, compost toilet, reed bed and we have wood fired boiler for under floor heating.
